ADVANTAGES OF THE USE OF SECONDARY FLUID FLUIDS ARE NUMEROUS:

  • In the primary circle, the most energy-efficient fluids can be used (for example, ammonia, even in the food, pharmaceutical industry and air conditioning;), without risk of contamination of cooled objects
  • The amount of primary coolant (potentially dangerous) in the installation is minimized
  • The risk of primary refrigerant leaking is minimal
  • The primary cooling fluid is only in the machine room, under the full control of the professional staff
  • Very good temperature control in cooled objects (continuous control, P regulators are usually satisfactory, and if necessary, also I regulators)

DISADVANTAGES OF INDIRECT SYSTEM:

  • Investment costs of indirect systems are usually higher for the same cooling effect
  • Due to lower evaporation temperature in the primary system, the electricity consumption for compressor running is higher
  • Large pipeline dimensions and increased installed power of circulation pumps 

CONSUMPTION OF ELECTRICITY IN INDIRECT SYSTEMS

In practice, it has been shown that the total annual energy costs of indirect systems, due to better temperature control, may be lower than for conventional systems (sometimes up to 15%).
